I very excited for this afternoon. I am volunteering at the soup kitchen I mentioned a few months back, Agape Table. They are having a family BBQ today, and I get the fun task of entertaining the kids.
I spent the evening making 25 super hero capes. They are very simple, blue with velcro tabs at the top.
Activity 1: We will start by making family crests, something that shows what you love about your family or yourself. We will attach the crests to the cape and then they can add paint, sparkles, buttons etc. to the cape.
Activity 2: As they are making it, we will talk about the most super thing they have ever done. We will then talk about what super hero they think would come in handy.
Activity 3: I have a giant soccer ball (it comes to my waist, it will be at their head level), parachute, skipping ropes, etc and we will use these for them to present scenes of their super power in action.
I hope in the end that they feel very “super” and special. I hope to help instill a sense of pride in themselves and that they have a fun time.
